MEET THE CARTERS...
We are John and Kelsey Carter, founders of Ardor Ministries. We have 4 kids: Josephine, Annabeth, Judah, and Eowyn. John was born and raised in Texas. He joined the Navy in 2005 and was stationed at Bangor Submarine Base in Silverdale, Washington where he served for 5 years, and then an additional 11 years as an active reservist. Kelsey was born in Denver, Colorado, moved to California, and then on to Washington State where she grew up. John and Kelsey met in 2006 at their church, and married September 1, 2007. Our first daughter, Josephine was born in 2009; followed by the adoption of Annabeth in 2012; the birth of Judah in 2014, and finally, Eowyn was born in April of 2020. John is a professional videographer, and worked for SOZO Church in the video and media department. He has also served as worship leader, inner healing minister, and teacher. Kelsey was a teacher at her learning center in Port Orchard, serving homeschool families of Kitsap County for over 10 years. She has served at SOZO in worship, inner healing ministry, and teaching. Together we lead a weekly home church in our house. We are both are leaving our businesses, but taking our skills and experience into the ministry.
Where we are going: In 2006 - 2007 Kelsey spent a year serving in Dublin, Ireland with Dublin Christian Mission. It has been on both our hearts to return to Ireland for ministry since that time. After the sale of our house in April 2021, God revealed a plan for something new in our lives. We no longer had any debt or a house to hold us down. With this new freedom, we were able to finally pursue that dream! God confirmed our call through many people and by opening doors in ways only He can. We are moving to Northern Ireland in the Summer of 2022. We have connected with a small church called Centre 61, located in Newcastle, County Down. God is doing a beautiful work in the people there through Centre 61 and we are excited to partner with them in the ministry.
What we are doing: Ardor Ministries is simply a name by we are titling our ministry work. As a couple, we want to see the Church restored and refreshed; to see believers walk in freedom and wholeness, loving Jesus, and living out their full identity in Christ. We are currently, and will continue, to do this through launching and leading home churches, partnering with local ministries and churches to aid in their work, networking with churches for teaching opportunities, producing our own teaching content, videos, and books; and continuing in outreach and discipleship through daily life activities. Kelsey has been hired to work as Pastor of Inner Healing Ministries with Center 61. Her job will be to launch the ministry, train and equip the team, and together we will be working together to minister to the people who come for healing.
Why Northern Ireland? Ireland is a country that has experienced centuries of oppression and division in the church and by the church. Much of the country’s politics and education are divided along religious lines (between Catholic and Protestant). While there are certainly people who know and love Jesus in the churches, there are many who go to church because of tradition or religion, not necessarily out of relationship with Jesus. In addition to this, the younger populations are leaving the church and there is a rise in the number of people identifying as “non-religious." There is a cry to unite Ireland, but our desire is beyond politics; we want to see it united in Jesus.
